Pre-University Summit

PRE-UNIVERSITY SUMMIT

A strategic program designed to help you ace your freshman year

Get a head start on your university education

Few incoming freshman understand the disadvantages they face before they set foot on a college campus. International students often face additional hurdles at universities in the U.S. Without a tailored strategy, many freshman flounder and flop.

The Pre-University Summit is an evidence-based program for exceptional rising freshman. Through a mix of engaging workshops, peer-networking, and year-long mentorship, participants will acquire the tools and skills needed to excel in college.

Research has shown that “the advantages of elite institutions are so overwhelming that they create what is for them (but not for the rest of higher education or the larger society) a kind of ‘virtuous circle’ in which advantage begets advantage.” (David Karen, 2002)

As an instructor at an elite university, I’ve seen firsthand how many international students struggle to adapt and excel in this new and rigorous environment. That is why I created the Pre-University Summit. This program will teach the critical skills and behaviors that many advantaged American students already have.
